Candidates for the position of President of the Football Association of Uzbekistan submitted by members of the Association were subject to a compliance check in accordance with the Election Code and the Charter of the Association, with the participation of members of the Election Committee.
In accordance with Article 30, Clause 4 of the Association’s Charter, the delegates nominated Bahodir Nizomovich Kurbonov for the position of President of the Football Association of Uzbekistan.
In accordance with the Association’s Charter and the Electoral Code, Bahodir Nizomovich Kurbanov was elected President of the Football Association of Uzbekistan.
«I would like to thank the delegates for considering my candidacy for the presidency of the UFA.» As everyone knows, football is the most popular and favorite sport in Uzbekistan. Our esteemed President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed many important documents aimed at developing football in our country and bringing it to a new level. This, in turn, has spurred significant growth in our football in recent years. In collaboration with FIFA and the AFC, a number of projects are being implemented to improve our football infrastructure and create facilities for playing football. Our junior and youth national teams are recording brilliant victories on the international stage. Last year, for the first time in the history of our football, our U-23 national team participated in the Summer Olympics, and our U-20 national team was recognized as unparalleled in Asia. Our junior national team reached the top eight at the World Championship. Today, Uzbekistan is recognized as the host of the most prestigious football tournaments. FIFA President Gianni Infantino has described the 2024 World Cup, hosted by Uzbekistan, as the best in history. In turn, my task in my new position is to continue this development and use all opportunities to achieve even greater results.
I hope that everyone working in the football industry will responsibly approach their duties to justify the trust placed in them by the head of our state and achieve the results that fans expect. Dear participants of the congress, as president, I say from today that I need the knowledge, wisdom, and support of each of you. I believe that together we will accomplish this responsible task. We have big goals ahead of us. Our national team will soon participate in the decisive matches of the World Cup qualifying round. Participating in the World Cup is a long-standing dream of our people. There are big challenges ahead in terms of gaining the trust of fans, filling stadiums with fans, and ensuring honesty and transparency in football. I believe that football experts and the media, working together and in solidarity, will achieve our goal. Our first steps will begin with the digitalization of football. Digitalization allows for transparency, training of young players, and scientific observation. «Once again, I would like to thank the participants of the congress and I will do everything in my power to justify your trust,» said Bahodir Kurbanov.
